Whether welcomed or not, home became a workplace, classroom, vacation spot, and more. Historically low interest rates and a suburban shift in housing demand triggered by the pandemic brought some good fortune to the residential housing industry with a rise in home sales, a spike in new home starts, and an increase in home remodeling projects. The National Association of Realtors has reported that existing home sales grew by more than 20% over 2019. This past November the U.S. Census Bureau and HUD jointly released a report stating that new housing starts were nearly 13% above 2019, surpassing previous projections.
