Mike Sollecito has been working for Horner Millwork since 2013. Mike began his career as an electrician and home audio/automation installer, but then he changed his career focus to follow his passion for fine woodworking. Since then he has developed an impressive portfolio of custom cabinets and luxury kitchens that he has built and installed over the years. Starting from a young age Mike was involved with renovating homes from the ground up, and now has a wide range of residential building skills including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, roofing, and much more. This wide array of talents makes Mike an invaluable resource during the critical planning stages of kitchen design and execution.

Mike’s most memorable kitchen that he has built and installed to date was for a home in Portsmouth, RI. The kitchen featured a huge solid walnut island with a curved bench seat that faced a 180 degree view of the bay. It was gorgeous!

Mike’s favorite design trend is the rustic industrial design aesthetic. He loves to incorporate reclaimed and repurposed items that were once forgotten and to transform them into something new like lighting fixtures or home décor. Being tech savvy, Mike values the increasing role that technology now plays in the kitchen design process. Supplying clients with a 3D rendering of their kitchen design significantly helps them visualize the finished space. Always trying to improve the building and design process, Mike is currently working on a new measurement process to try to catch all the imperfections on the jobsite that can cause problems with the finished kitchen installation.

Susan-Cordeiro
SUSAN CORDEIRO

Susan Cordeiro comes the Design Team from a big box store where she honed her skills not only in kitchen design, but also flooring, outdoor landscaping, and home improvement. Sue has a passion for interior design and says “What I love about designing kitchens is helping people achieve what they envision and creating a kitchen space that is a more efficient and enjoyable place to spend their time.”

For trends, Sue is seeing kitchens with softer colors and a more relaxed look along with high end finishes and tons of hidden function. The most memorable kitchen Sue has designed was a white slab door kitchen with dark cherry stained cabinet boxes and bright lime green backsplash, and included a music room and full pantry.

Carly DeCataldo brings a well-rounded creative perspective to the Design Team. Her background includes work as a lighting designer before honing her skills in kitchen and bath design — a foundation that informs her thoughtful, detail-oriented approach to every space she creates.

Carly enjoys using her creativity to help clients who feel stuck on ideas, guiding them through a process that is both enjoyable and results-driven. She takes pride in seeing a design move from concept to reality, always keeping the client’s vision and satisfaction at the center of her work.

When it comes to current trends, Carly is excited about the resurgence of warm tones, multi-tone kitchens, custom cabinetry, and the rich use of natural wood. Her personal favorite aesthetic leans into the drama of deep greens and blues paired with wood tones and warm brass fixtures — a combination she loves for the contrast and moodiness it brings to a space.

One of her most memorable projects was a large white shaker kitchen featuring an oversized navy island outfitted with every custom detail imaginable, finished with a white quartz top with deep blue and gold veining and satin gold hardware. It’s the kind of design that reflects her belief that a kitchen should be both beautiful and reflect the personal style of the homeowner.
