We’re proud to introduce February’s featured project from the 2024 Horner Wall Calendar. This month, we’re showcasing a beautiful Cooper Preassembled Stair, expertly crafted in our own woodworking shop here in Somerset, MA. Serving as the secondary staircase in this luxury home, this modified scissor-style stair sits in a two-story alcove surrounded by glass windows, bathing the stair in natural light and creating the illusion that it is floating in the air. The engineering behind integrating structural support for the stair into a wall of windows was no simple feat.

Exceptional Details // Crafted to match the Nantucket style of the grand residence, we used primed poplar and rich hardwoods for that classic look. Rift and quarter-sawn white oak treads complement the flooring, with plank nosing for a more upscale look. The continuous sapele handrail, featuring a custom rail profile and exquisite hand-carved wreaths, seamlessly ascends from beginning to end. The custom-turned balusters add the perfect finishing touch. It’s not just a stair; it’s a work of art.
