Happy New Year! We are excited to start 2026 by featuring the first project highlighted in our 2026 Horner Wall Calendar. This month, we are stepping inside a beautifully designed kitchen that layers modern farmhouse style with carefully chosen materials and finishes. This Covered Bridge custom kitchen was designed by interior designer Ally Maloney Winzer of Maloney Interiors. Susan Cordeiro of the Horner Kitchen Design Center worked closely with Ally to help bring that vision to life, coordinating details and guiding the cabinetry design from planning through installation alongside builders Ben and Dan of DBR Builders, Inc.

COVERED BRIDGE CUSTOM CABINETRY

For this new construction home on Aquidneck Island, Ally set out to create a kitchen that felt both refined and welcoming.

“For this new construction project we set out to create a unique modern farmhouse aesthetic with a bold edge. In the kitchen, we used three-tone cabinetry to create a beautiful layered effect. The black and white color palette adds a modern touch, while the white oak brings a warmth, speaking to the farmhouse style. The black tiled hood is the statement piece. We wanted to design a unique hood that would be visually stunning and make the home feel special.” – Ally Maloney Winzer of Maloney Interiors

As you move through the space, each element builds on the next. Crisp black and white cabinetry sets a clean, architectural foundation, while warm white oak adds depth and contrast. The tiled hood anchors the room visually, drawing the eye upward and giving the kitchen its signature moment. Thoughtful storage, balanced proportions, and carefully selected finishes ensure the space feels just as functional as it is beautiful.
